Apple is working on a subscription for hardware devices that will let you lease products such as iPhones, Mac, and more from the Cupertino-based giant, claims a report from Bloomberg. If the hardware plan subscription goes according to the plan, you will be able to buy iPhones, iPads, and Mac just like "paying a monthly app fee."

The program is targeted towards customers who don't have to capital to fully own an Apple device. With this program, customers will be able to pay a monthly subscription fee and gain access to an Apple device for the subscription period. The program is being described as Apple's "biggest push yet into automatically recurring sales."

The service would be Apple’s biggest push yet into automatically recurring sales, allowing users to subscribe to hardware for the first time — rather than just digital services. But the project is still in development, said the people, who asked not to identified because the initiative hasn’t been announced, Bloomberg News reports.

The program will differ from the iPhone‌ Upgrade Program. Instead of spreading the device's value over 12 months or 24 months, the "monthly charge would be a yet-to-be-determined monthly fee that depends on which device the user chooses." The subscription would be managed through the user's Apple account. Apple has also had internal discussions about attaching the hardware subscription program to its own Apple One program, but nothing is concrete as of now, according to the report.

The report claims that Apple has been working on this program for years, but, the efforts were slowed down to "launch a “buy now, pay later” service more quickly." Apple is working to launch the service towards the end of 2022 or in early 2023, but it could also "end up getting canceled", people told the publication.
