The Samsung Galaxy S22 series leaked in full months before they were released on February 9, at the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event. The new Galaxy S22 is the latest in the flagship trio that comes with a brand new bold, familiar design, advanced intelligent image processing, and a powerful chipset. Night photography received significant improvements to let users capture better images in dark and low-light conditions.

Galaxy S22 Pricing and Availability

The standard Samsung Galaxy S22, will start at $799.99, while the Galaxy S22 Plus will go for $999.99 in the United States. The Galaxy S22 and its larger sibling, the Galaxy S22 Plus, will be available in Phantom Black, Phantom White, Green, and Pink Gold colors, as well as 128/256GB storage options and 8GB of RAM.

Pre-orders for the Galaxy S22 series start today, on February 9, at Samsung.com and major retailers and carriers. Those who pre-order or upgrade (until February 24) will be eligible to upgrade to the next storage tier when purchasing 128GB or 256GB models. The offer will also include an additional Samsung Credit of up to $200 for the Galaxy S22 Ultra, $150 for the Galaxy S22 Plus, or $100 for the Galaxy S22 to spend toward purchasing the Samsung Freestyle, or the Galaxy Watch 4 smartwatch. Those who pre-order will also receive up to 25% off of any Galaxy Tab S8 devices.

Samsung Galaxy S22 will be available from February 25, 2022, through Samsung.com, carriers, and other retailers' websites and stores.

The Samsung Galaxy S22 comes in four beautiful new colors, including Phantom Black, Phantom White, Green, and Pink Gold. Both the front and back are glass, and are protected by the latest Gorilla Glass Victus+ panel that protects it from scratches, scuffs, and accidental drops. The new glass is more durable and more sturdies, but as always, glass is glass, and glass can break.

The new Galaxy S22 appears to have a near-identical design to the last generation of Galaxy S21 flagship series, that is, until you look at the flat side panels. The entire phone is less curvy, and while there is still some curvature on the rear back panel and on the front, it’s far more minimal than on previous Samsung devices.

The display features a 6.1-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel that has an FHD+ 1080 x 2340 resolution. The panel also comes with an adaptive 10-120Hz refresh rate, and it features 240Hz Touch Sampling Rate to make gaming and scrolling smoother and jitter-free. Both the front and back glass panels are featuring the latest Gorilla Glass Victus+ panel to offer even more protection. The display is excellent for watching movies, playing games, and browsing the web in all lighting conditions, and bright it can get, it can go up to 1,300 nits.

On the display, you will also spot the same punch-hole cutout, which houses the 10MP front-facing selfie camera with f/2.2 aperture and offers 80-degrees of FOV. Flipping the device to the backside, we’ll also see three rear cameras. The primary camera is a 50MP f/1.8 sensor with1.0μm, FOV 85-degrees. The secondary is a 12MP ultrawide, f/2.2, 1.4μm, FOV 120-degrees, while the third unit is a telephoto with 10MP, f/2.4, 1.0μm. The telephoto can shoot at 3x optical zoom, and it also has the impressive 30x Space Zoom feature. The rear cameras have improved night mode and better shooting capabilities to capture more realistic images in dark and low-light conditions.

All of this is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, and Exynos 2200 chipset (both chipsets are market dependent). The new chips are coupled with 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of built-in storage. Both models feature Samsung’s Knox and have more advanced GPU and AI enhancements to make the performance smoother and more fluid under load, while playing graphics-intensive games, and processing images and private information.

Last but not least, Samsung packed a fairly small 3,700 mAh battery inside the Galaxy S22, which is now finally compatible to charge at 25W via a cable. The device also supports Qi wireless charging at 15W, and it comes with reverse wireless charging, and Samsung made sure it is also USB-IF compliant. Galaxy S22 supports 5G, both mmWave and Sub6, as well as 4G LTE, and Wi-Fi 6 (ax, Dual Band). Unfortunately, Ultra-Wideband is limited to the Galaxy S22 Plus and Galaxy S22 Ultra.
